FORWARD ON OUR KNEES

ABACO CONVENTION 2012

Abaco Convention 2012 was off to an exhilarating start as members and visitors alike arrived at the
Marsh Harbour SDA church in happy expectation of a Sabbath blessing. Youth & Personal Ministries Director for the Atlantic Caribbean Union Mission, Pastor Al Powell, delivered the first part of that blessing in his timely sermon: “Someone is Calling Your Name”.  He reminded all in attendance that God will call and use anyone who is truly connected to Him. The inspiring service ended with an appeal for recommitment and renewal in Jesus Christ.

On Sabbath morning scholars were  eager to study God’s Word.  Elder Isaac Collie led a spirited discussion highlighting the detrimental effects of attempting to combine Creation and Evolution.  True to our Convention theme, Forward On Our Knees, the entire program was packaged in testimonies of miraculous answers to prayer and soul-stirring music by the Praise Team and the Convention Choir. During the Divine Worship Hour, Administrators and Departmental Directors from the North Bahamas Conference brought greetings and words of encouragement making the Convention experience
even more memorable. Pastor Powell once again became a channel of blessing with his charge entitled: “Down, but I’m Not Giving Up!” The final message, “Don’t Block My Blessing”, was the culmination of an already high experience in the Lord, and an invitation to all God’s children to move forward, constant in prayer.

GRAND BAHAMA

 CONVENTION 2012

The Grand Bahama Convention began on Wednesday evening with Pastor E. Bryan Tinker, President, lighting the Convention Trail.  “Forward on our Knees” was echoed loud and clear as the President urged us to begin the new year with prayer  as the central focus.  If you missed the past few evenings of Convention, you don’t want to miss any of the other speakers.

We are pleased to welcome to Convention 2012 Dr. Knight of Toronto, Ontario in Canada. A product of Christian education, he attended Oakwood University where he received a B.A. in Theology. He  earned a Master’s in Divinity with emphasis in preaching from Andrews University, and holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Knight’s greatest joy in this world is his family. He is “honeymoon happy” to be married to the former Stephanie Johnson from Orlando, Fl who works as an Occupational Therapist and serves the Lord through preaching, teaching, and empowering women. They have a 10 year old daughter, Aja and a 7 year old son, Charles Ajani.  He currently serves a growing congregation and helps to empower the saints for significant ministry in the city of Decatur and the wider Metro Atlanta area.

Pastor Donovan Washington, another of our guest preachers, was born in Greensboro, N.C.  and grew up in the East Market Street SDA church.  Pastor Washington is also a graduate of Andrews University.  While there he served as the pastoral intern at the Hyde Park SDA church in Chicago, Illinois.  He graduated in 2004 with a Masters of Divinity degree. The highlight of his life was when he married the former Tahirah Barnes of Chicago, Illinois.  From this union they have one daughter, Taryn Sophia Washington.  Pastor Washingon lives by the text, “If God be for us, who can be against us?”  Romans 8:31. Welcome, Pastor Washington!

Mid-day Joy Prayer Service

Do you believe that God weighs our trials and if it comes our way then God knows that we can endure it?

This makes me think about the text in Psalm 37:5.  “Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.”

Whatever we have planned to do this year, write it out, then lay it before God, and pray over it.  Commit it to Him.  Then let Him take care of it.

He'll guide you through it. He'll let you know whether or not this is what you should be doing.

He'll give you the favor that you need.

He'll provide the strength that you need. He'll arrange circumstances that are impossible for you so that He can be seen.

He'll provide you with the wisdom and gifts that you need.

He'll provide you with whatever external support you need.

He'll provide the supernatural interventions if needed.

He'll get the job done!

So no matter what you think the year has to offer, no matter the challenges and trials, don't worry!

Just picture God looking down at you and saying, "I Got This!"

“….for the joy of the Lord is your
strength”.  Neh. 8:10

"O give thanks unto the Lord for He is good and His mercies endureth forever!"  Mid-day Joy is held every Thursday from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.  Come join us as we give God thanks and praise for the copious blessings He provides for His people each day.

“Bring Forth Fruit”

"Bring forth fruit that is consistent with repentance.  Let your lives prove your change of heart."

Matthew 3:8, AMP.

As you leave Convention 2012 and face the unknown, Go forward with the understanding that God desperately His children to honour Him with their prayers and their service.
